Amy Sutherland Nesbit has been part of the Augusta Prep community for 40 years. She graduated from Prep in 1989.
"We were the first class to graduate from Augusta Preparatory Day School after the merger with Country Day. We were a smart, close-knit class who still enjoy seeing each other for reunions."
After Prep, Amy attended Converse College and the Medical College of GA, earning a BA in Studio Arts and English, and a BS in Occupational Therapy. She worked as a pediatric therapist until she decided to stay home with her 3 children. For the last 5 years, Amy has worked in the Episcopal Day School Nature Kindergarten as an assistant teacher. She remains active in the Augusta community as an active member of the Augusta Symphony Guild and The Church of the Good Shepherd.
“It is an exciting time at Augusta Prep, and I especially enjoy serving the school I love so much. The standards Prep taught in the '80’s are the same values my children learned: ‘How to think, not what to think.’ I am especially thankful that my children were taught by outstanding faculty, including two who taught Douglas and me: Mr. Steve Boyd and Ms. Sheila Owen.”
Amy is married to Douglas Nesbit ’87, and they have three children, all of whom graduated from APDS: Alison ’17, Daniel ’19, and Elizabeth ’22.
