Lower School Library
The primary objective of the Lower School Library to instill in our students a lifelong love of reading. In addition, our goal is to teach library skills to enable our students to locate materials on subjects that interest them or on topics they have been assigned. Students who are working on projects may visit the library any time the librarian is in the library and a class is not in session. Students in the Lower School have library class once a week, where they hear a story, have library skills instruction, or work on a project, and check out books.
- The Lower School Library collection has over 5,000 volumes.
- Books are loaned out on a weekly basis, on the student’s regular library day. Library books are due back the following week. Parents are asked to help their children learn the responsibility of returning borrowed books on time.
- Lower School students use numerous databases available through the library.
Cavalier Book Club
Students at Augusta Prep Lower School have the opportunity to participate in a fun reading incentive program! The Cavalier Book Club is designed for students in grades one through four to track their total reading minutes at home. Students in grades one and two must read for a total of 2,200 minutes, and grades three and four must read for a total of 2,800 minutes. Once the goal is reached, the student will receive a Cavalier Book Club tee shirt, a certificate, and will be recognized on stage at our morning assembly!
