Augusta Prep welcomes Ryan Scheb as its new Head of Upper School for the 2025-2026 school year.
Mr. Scheb replaces Ryan Clements, who has served as Head of Upper School since July 2022. Mr. Clements will become the next Head of Upper School at The Walker School on July 1.
Mr. Scheb currently serves as Assistant Principal at Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida before earning his Master of Science in Teaching from Fordham University. Mr. Scheb later obtained his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership degree from Notre Dame University.
Mr. Scheb has worked at Cristo Rey since 2012, starting his educational career as a history teacher. Five years later, he became the history department chair. In 2022, he became the school’s Assistant Principal, with responsibilities including: Designing research-based professional development, resulting in a 20 percent increase in AP pass rates and a 13 percent rise in standardized test scores; implementing a coaching and evaluation model that improved instruction and increased faculty retention from 35 percent to 75 percent in two years; and developing an AI policy to mitigate unauthorized use while providing structured opportunities for students to explore and experiment with AI in academic settings.
“Ryan understands how to support faculty and students through empathetic questions and active listening,” Augusta Prep Head of School Eric Hedinger said. “I know that he will bring to the community a vision that incorporates clear expectations, collaboration, and a growth-mindset.”
Mr. Scheb said a combination of Augusta Prep’s academics, opportunities, campus setting and sense of community made accepting the job an easy decision.
“I'm beyond excited to join the Augusta Prep community and can’t wait to get to know the students, their families, and my colleagues,” he said. “I’m eager to be in classrooms and hallways, at football games and theater productions - anywhere and everywhere - fully immersing myself in the life of the school.”
